  • Devious advertising led Kelsey and I to the Field Museum, where we found a lot of interesting things including a T-Rex.
  • The man-eaters of Tsavo, featured in the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness" are stuffed and posing in the Field Museum in Chicago.
  • A concrete jungle, seen from the top of the Sears Tower.
  • Kelsey works some ropes during the rigging for another rappel off the top of the temple.
  • Jeff and Kelsey watch the fireworks from the rooftops over Chicago.
  • As we neared completion of the project, days were getting colder and being soaked the whole day long got cold and tiring.
  • Kelsey models the foot from a waterproof acid suit built for a Yeti.
  • Our crew spent a few evenings in the garage of a local climber, a hangout for dozens of climbers around the Chicago area. Danny works a problem with Phil taking a breather in the background.
  • The locals trained on these steeply overhung walls several times a week, and could easily outclimb any of us without breathing hard.
  • Kelsey and Billy dry off before heading home at the end of a day's work.
  • One evening we caught a dove that was wandering around the temple roof and Kelsey posed for a photo op releasing it into the sunset.
  • Kelsey and Peggy wait for the subway after Kelsey's last evening in Chicago. Peggy flew in from Seattle and gave Kelsey some company for the drive across the country, and then he wrapped up the last 2000 miles home on his own.
  • The subway pulls in to take us out of downtown.

  • While in Chicago I went to church on Sundays in the nearby town of Genoa. I made quite a few great friends, and even introduced them to slacklining before I left.
  • The sun sinks over the fields of Genoa, IL.
  • A ping-pong game goes down during a dry lightning storm one late evening. Shortly after this weekend I packed up and flew home, leaving Chicago and finally wrapping up five months of travel.
