Our highest climb of the trip, though not the hardest.

• On our hike up to the high camp, we met up with a cinnamon stage black bear and cubs. She didn't seem to be too angry, so we took some pictures and quietly moved along.
• There are several places to camp on the Grand Teton. One lower camp was our objective, but on reaching it with many hours left in the day, we took a break and decided to head for the higher camp.
• Local flora positively littered the landscape on the hike, providing some very nice scenery as we strolled along.
• The wildlife along the hike is quite used to humans, so it wasn't hard to surprise this guy by sneaking up behind a rock.
• In a couple places along the trail, people have installed giant hawsers to aid in getting past steep sections. I know I wouldn't want to be the one carrying that thing up.
• We camped at 11,000 feet, and in the morning we pushed for the summit at 13,770 feet. via the Owen Spalding Route 5.6 The trail at one point traverses this ledge under a bit of an overhang, with lots of air and little room.
• We had intended to do some real climbing along the route, but difficulties never presented themselves, and in spite of the airy exposure we were able to easily reach the summit without ever donning any climbing gear at all. As we neared the top a light drizzle of rain reached us, so we pushed harder to summit before it really got wet.
• Kelsey sits at the top of the Grand Teton.
• We made the hike to the base in good time and moved north out of Wyoming as a rainstorm moved in. This is our last sight of the Grand Teton, just hours after we were on its summit.
