Oregon2006

• Lilies in the garden at Kelsey's family's place in Portland.
• Kelsey steps out on an overhanging point at Smith Rock.
• A view of the great climbing at Smith, with Kelsey just getting off the ground.
• The Monkey Face! An intense tower overhanging on all sides, and quite a great climb.
• Kelsey and Casey and the second pitch of the Pioneer Route 5.7 A1 on the Monkey.
• Kelsey follows, with his first big exposure opening up beneath.
• Jugging a rope is a strenuous activity, especially for those who haven't done it much before.
• Kelsey was worked, both mentally and physically, when he finally reached the mouth of the Monkey.
• Casey gives of a big grin, happy to be high.
• The mouth of the Monkey, a comfortable hangout before the grippingly exposed pitch to the top.
• Another "Rough Life" shot. I have quite a few of these...
• We rigged the Monkey Face Highline, one of the simplest highline riggings I have done. Here's Casey padding the edge before I lowered out and crossed this strand of webbing to work the rigging on the other side.
• After the rigging, Casey wanted to try a couple walks before we headed back down the cliffs to walk again tomorrow.
• The day after rigging, we headed up to walk the line. Casey's dad contacted the newspaper, and a reporter headed up to shoot some pictures and talk with us. We made the newspaper!
• Casey speaks with a reporter about the challenges and rewards of highlining.
• As this group of climbers headed higher and higher, both Casey and I made the walk across to the Monkey's mouth.
• Here's a clean catch for Casey.
