  • Joe Sylvia stands watching the filming on a frozen lake.
  • The Mythbusters film crew and stars play with some "Dynamite" for the camera.
  • Jamie prepares to toss a stick of "dynamite" for the camera.
  • The dynamite is airborne.
  • The film crew gets closeups of Jamie and Adam talking about dynamite while the rest of us get shushed. Evidently the boom mic can pick up our speech several hundred yards away.
  • Another throw of a stick of dynamite. For the filming we prepared road flares with long fuses.
  • The real explosives begin with a demonstration from Anchorage's bomb squad.
  • Richard Harrop checks out a hole made with a shaped explosive charge.
  • Two separate test holes were made, this one with C4 under the ice which directed more force downward and stirred things up a little in the mud.
  • A local dog got to become a TV star fetching a stick of dynamite for the cameras.
  • Filming for the show in front of the scenery. Blowing a car through a frozen lake is something the authorities won't allow in our more pristine Alaskan areas, so a man-made gravel pit was used.
  • Stephanie, of the Central Mat-Su Fire Department, posing with two of the stars of the show and her dog, who got to play a major role.
  • Anchorage's bomb squad provided some company for the water rescue team, and we shared a few interests as well.
  • The Mythbusters crew impressed me with how hard they work from before sunup to after sundown compiling as much footage as possible to cut down into one half-hour show.
  • Playing with fake explosives with the bomb squad.
  • Because playing with dynamite is a bit dangerous for a real dog, the crew assembled a mechanical one for the demonstration. Unfortunately the -17*F Alaskan winter sapped the batteries rather quickly.

  • Our jobs as various supporting people mainly consisted of standing by and taking pictures while filming was going on.
