  • Sunlight illuminates a bright red tree on a Red River Gorge hillside.
  • The local hiking trails are made a little more accessible with staircases keeping the trails intact in steep sections.
  • A time-worn staircase descends a steep hillside through the woods.
  • A river otter glances cautiously at the camera before swimming quickly away.
  • A pair of river otters make ripples as they swim away over an underwater carpet of fallen leaves.
  • A lone leaf remains on the surface, soon to join its fellows under the water on the creek bottom.
  • Kelsey's goal for the day was to find a salamander, having never seen one in the wild.  This task we accomplished by wandering along the river and turning over rocks.
