This was fairly complex lighting-wise. I started with the camera angle I wanted, which I almost didn't get due to the layout of my place. I wanted a gritty sort of look, so I used a higher ISO, which also helped to keep flash power low. Next I added an Alienbee B800 strobe for a hard rimlight snooted on me, which is the one turned on in this photo. Then I needed a bit of fill on my face and I didn't have the space for a softbox in front of me due to the camera position, so I hung the white face fabric from a softbox on the closet door in front of me and bounced a zoomed beam onto that from my 600ex speedlight. Once I got my lighting down, the window light on Tracy wasn't quite enough, so I filled the room with soft light using a 5-foot softbox on another B800. Posing was just as tricky, taking into account body positioning, facial expressions, and eye angles, but a bunch of shots, a little balancing of light powers, and some post-processing, and the result is quite pleasing to me! Triggered with my toes using a wireless remote (pictured).
