  • This particular rock came from Malawi, the "Warm Heart of Africa."
  • Using a dremel with some diamond bits, I shaped the stone into the rough teardrop shape. During this process I learned about fractoluminescence, which is pretty awesome actually.
  • After shaping, the stone went through a few phases of polishing to get a nice shine on it.
  • Using copper wire of the same gauges as the silver wire I planned to use, I ran through a few different design iterations before eventually settling on one and moving on to the final product.
  • I wound up using sterling silver wire wrapped to hold the cabochon in a fairly simple crossed pattern, with the frame wires looped for the eyelets of the pendant.
  • For a final detail I added a spiral to the end of the frame wires, and hung the pendant on a sterling silver chain, ready to grace the neck of a princess!
